AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND- A study out of Auckland University found that children usually don’t want a new Stepdad to jump into the role of “dad”… at least not right away. Kids are more comfortable with them being more of a friend than a parent, and leaving the discipline to the mom. Many men start off on the wrong foot and end end up limping through their marriage- not sure what went wrong. This bit of knowledge may be the key advice that many new Stepdads need, to assure they make a good start with their new family.
